We use our smartphones for everything from waking us up in the morning to taking pictures, shopping, playing games, watching videos and keeping up up-to-date with the latest news. smartphone says about you

Android or iPhone?

Millions of people around the world have fallen for the sleek designs and intuitive displays that characterise iPhones, but not everyone’s a fan of these handsets. Looking into the great mobile divide, investment firm Battery Ventures studied the differences between iPhone and Android users. The firm found that people who own Apple phones are more likely to have flown in an aeroplane over the last year and have stock market investments than their Android using counterparts, Re/Code reported. The research also suggested that iPhone users were more likely to prefer wine, while those with Android handsets tended to have more of a penchant for beer. OK, so this study may just have been a bit of fun, but perhaps your choice of handset does give away clues about your habits and other preferences.

Suave and sophisticated, sports lover or music mad?

It’s not just the device you select that matters. The accessories you choose to kit it out with could reveal a lot about you too. For example, if you’ve got a classy leather phone case, the chances are you’re keen to come across as suave and sophisticated. Perhaps you’re a fan of the iPhone leather cases from Tuff Luv, which have an executive look and feel. Alternatively, maybe you’ve opted for a protective case that’s convenient for sports, like an armband design with a special phone pocket that’s perfect for taking to the gym or out on a jog. Meanwhile, if you love your music and can’t stand poor sound quality, your phone probably has state-of-the-art ear or headphones connected to it. It’s surprising how much you can tell about a person by the extras they buy for their mobile.

Technophile or technophobe?

Then there’s the content on your phone to consider. If you’re a tech-lover and can’t get enough of the latest innovations, your device is probably packed with all manner of apps and features to help you make the most of its capabilities. On the other hand, if you’re more of a technophobe than a technophile, the chances are your handset only has the bare minimum applications.

Because our mobiles are now so integrated into our lives, they can reveal a whole range of fascinating facts about us. So, next time you take a look at your handset, think about how it reflects on you.
